Personality & Traits

General Overview Addison is a very determined woman, who likes to tackle problems and projects head on. When it comes to a person's health she isn't afraid to chase down the person who doesn't come into the office. She is congenial, approachable and has a down to earth sort of personality. She's not always chatty, doesn't feel the need to fill up a silence that comes up every now and then. She is good with a companionable quiet. She doesn't like ship's gossip, about who sleeps with whom, she frowns on that.
Strengths & Weaknesses Addison is one who assesses a problem or a person, adapting the approach on how to take care of a situation, both in medical and away from medical.

Addison has to monitor herself when it comes to work, as she can slip into the classification of being a workaholic.

She firmly believes in the powers of crystals, especially the ones which promote healing. She tends to keep a stone or two upon her at all times. She just doesn't make a fuss over it either as it is something personal.

When it comes to working on patients, or in the middle of working on a project, she isn't one who wants to talk, unless it is about something of solid worth. Status of a patient, or about a discovery. She will talk about things of a creative nature, doesn't like to engage in idle gossip, no latest fashion, not even who is dating whom.

Ambitions Addison wants to continue her work in helping people stay healthy. With the various races that are out there amongst the galaxies, there isn't an all encompassing umbrella for health care. Each race has its own different physiologies and their needs. Granted, there are records about the various species out there, however more information needs to be added with each new race being found. This includes finding out the herbal medicine that each race may have done research on.

Addison also wants to find more about pocket dimensions, and time distortions and how to combat the effects of them.
Hobbies & Interests Addison liked to read medical journals, medical books, articles of advancements in medicine. Addison loved reading and the books she has read were varied. Historical nature, fantasy, mysteries, science fiction.

She is fairly good with the phaser. Geology, Botany, acupressure, aromatherapy and massage therapy are other pieces of knowledge and skills she's picked up.

Addison sings and loves listening to music, she plays the flute, this includes the baroque flute. For part of her self-care Addison also practices crystal healing. Personal usage. She doesn't preach that sort of healing to others. It helps her with balancing her life. Another thing she practices is Tai Chi, in her room.

Personal History DOB March 20th, 2352 spring equinox

Addison was part of a family who were part of a Federation Colony, Amazonite out where some termed it the Wild West of Space in the Gamma Quadrant. It was filled with hard work, learning to do more than one thing. On Amazonite, the colonists chose to do things without being totally dependent on tech. They didn't depend on replicators, for their food instead they grew what they needed. The citizens traveled with vehicles which looked like old style trucks, but didn't use gasoline.

Her parents liked living on Amazonite, the land was rich and fertile, they had the natural weather occurrences, which were not controlled by weather satellites. Addison's father, Bryan, was a veterinarian, her mother, Thalia ran the household and kept their land in working order. Grandpa Earl was a doctor, her Grandmother Emily was a geologist. Her Uncle Joseph Smythe was part of the security team which was stationed at the planet side outpost. Uncle Joseph when off hours from his post, he would teach martial arts and other modes of self defense. Addison learned escrima from her uncle.

Addison had an active childhood due to her two older brothers Todd and Hank, they were a bit of pranksters growing up, and would pull their siblings into some mischief. Mina and Lydia were quite happy to get involved and would drag their reluctant older sister into the mischief their brothers were getting into. Despite their mischief making, the Talbert kids did have a side of responsibility, taking care of chores that their mother and father assigned them.

Addison loved being on Amazonite, there were plenty of places to explore. That wasn't the only place she loved, Addison loved visiting her grandmother. Her grandmother had a display of the native stones that were precious and semi-precious. Addison became enthralled by them. Her grandmother taught her about the healing elements of the stones that were there. They had found areas which had the same sort of minerals and gemstones much like Earth had.

Addison when not admiring the collection of rock her grandmother had she would also go on the rounds with her grandfather, who was a country doctor. He believed in utilizing natural healing herbs as well as the more modern day medicines as well. Besides going on rounds with her grandfather, Addison would accompany her father on rounds and help him out.

Addison's mother would get her children to do cooking in the kitchen as she felt that they needed to know their way around there. She didn't mind the mess.

The days were filled with school, community activities. Music lessons. Addison decided she wanted to learn how to crochet, which she found was relaxing. Other creative hobbies she learned how to paint, and learned how to dance she also got into singing with the community choir.

Addison had a strange incident when she was around 14 years old. She had gone on a field trip to explore some old mines that had been found, dating many centuries past. This was one of the areas that had been cleared and considered safe for studying. There was a science team doing research in the caves, finding pieces of pottery, little hollowed out areas in the wall above the head which seemed to have crystalline receptacles, with wax inside. Her grandmother was part of the science team due to her geological knowledge she was allowed to bring Addison as her assistant. Addison found it intriguing, she could see some small veins of crystal which she found interesting. She followed the vein down a small keyhole tunnel, liking how the palm light she held in her hand made the blue crystals sparkle.

Addison noticed something coming from a fissure at the end of the tunnel, it looked like some sunlight. She may have found an exit that hadn't been noticed, out of the cave. Addison was able to squeeze through, she pulled back a curtain of vines, stepping out into sunlight, finding herself in a small hollow which had a small patch of woods, she could see a small waterfall off to the left, and a path that led towards the waterfall. She was there only for a couple of hours, realizing the time she needed to get back to where her grandmother was. Addison made her way back to the fissure, and squeezed back through. When she was back in the tunnel, Addison felt a wave of dizziness come over her. She stumbled back out to the main tunnel, then to the entrance where she heard people talking.

They were surprised that she appeared out of the cave. She was bombarded with questions of where she had been for the past two days. This confused Addison, she was only gone for two hours. She couldn't have been gone that long. After getting some water, and something to eat, Addison led them to where she had gone through the fissure. The fissure wasn't there. It was a solid blank wall, Addison ran her fingers along it and nothing happened. Addison was confused, it was there the opening, and she wasn't lying!

Addison went home to her relieved family, glad that she was back. Even though she described what she had found, there hadn't been any findings of where she had been.

Addison graduated from high school, she was desirous in wanting to expand her learning, and go seek out new horizons. Her older brother, Todd, had joined the Marines. The second oldest, Hank, wanted to stay and help out around the colony. At the colony there was offered a six week Starfleet Preparatory Academy Course which Addison took advantage of. She wanted to join Starfleet and see what paths that it would take her, especially where medical was concerned.

2370-2378 After the six week course, which Addison passed, she went on to head for Earth to participate in the entrance exams for Starfleet Academy. Addison passed the entrance exam and began her cadet training. She went to the Starfleet Academy, graduated then went to Starfleet Medical Academy to become an MD.

During her time at the Medical Academy, war was happening, Klingons fighting against the Federation. The Dominion added to the battles. Addison was concerned about all that was happening. Then the Breen attacked Federation HQ and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Addison was part of the recovery, rescue and treating the wounded. All that devastation made her ill to her stomach. She worked tirelessly in the aid effort taking only brief moments to get a bite to eat then continuing on.

2378-2382 Graduation from Starfleet Medical Academy, Addison was assigned to the Galaxy Class ship named USS Kymani. Addison was part of the medical staff, interning under Doctor James Adler. Four years later, she transferred to a Nova Class science vessel, USS Tanzanite.

2382-2386 She served on the USS Tanzanite which was called to the Amazonite Colony, her home near the end of 2386. There had been an earthquake which caused injuries and damage. The USS Tanzanite crew were able to help out. While medical help was being provided, Addison met her future husband who was one of the vets working with her dad. Addison requested to be put in Starfleet reserves, wanting to stay at the colony to help with the rebuild, to her happiness, it was granted.

2386-2390 Addison married Thomas Albert Talbert and they had a happy marriage. Addison travelled with her husband, him running a travelling veterinarian treatment clinic, which was a refurbished Antares Cargo ship the SS Panacea. He had one deck of the cargo for the animals he would need to take care of the animals. Addison had another deck made into a clinic to keep other citizens of settlements on the planet and nearby colonies healthy. It was also used to deliver medical supplies.

The happy marriage between Addison and Thomas ended tragically. One day, her husband had gone to help out with a prize bull of one of the colonists. He got it tended to and was on the way back towards the ship when something spooked a herd of cattle, and they stampeded. A little child had gotten separated from her parents and toddled her way in the path of the stampeding bovines.

Thomas went and swept the little girl up into his arms and ran for dear life. He was barely able to get her to a high and safe place before he was swept under the pounding hooves of the stampeding cattle. It was with great sorrow they brought the broken body of Thomas to Addison who was treating ill citizens. He was dead, and there was nothing she could do about it. She and the small crew which was with her, took him back home to bury him. Addison had heard what happened to Thomas, and she knew he had died a hero. Addison was glad that the little girl hadn't been killed, and she had been reunited with her parents. She could take comfort in that.

After he was buried, Addison and her small crew set off to continue being a travelling clinic. Even though she had learned a bit for caring for animals, she could help out somewhat but not on the scale that her husband had done. She instead concentrated upon running the SS Panacea as a clinic.

2390-2396 Addison and her crew, after delivering medical supplies, found themselves under attack by a group of pirates. They managed to get away by the skin of their teeth with the help of USS Apollon which chased the pirates away. Sadly the Panacea had to be destroyed after salvageable parts were acquired. The ship that had rescued her , they were in need of a Medical officer as the CMO wanted to leave and there was no ACMO. They requested for Addison to be brought out of the reserves and into full service once more. Addison was agreeable to that, as she wanted to have a change, since her husband had died.

Addison was on the USS Apollon for the next several years, the Intrepid exploring the Delta Quadrant. During that time they had experienced a time flux fragment which affected the Apollon. Later on, the Apollon had gotten damaged by being caught by meteor shower, they were able to get the ship into a station to get repaired realizing that the ship needed a refit. The crew was sent to new assignments.

2396-2398 Addison was sent to a medical unit where she was placed as the Chief Medical Officer of the USS Akeso, a Saber Class medical ship which was sent out for medical emergencies for planets in need of medical aid, as well as medical supplies. The latest emergency she was sent out for was a mining operation had gone awry, there were some injured miners which needed help. A transporter was unable to get a lock on the miners so Addison and part of her medical team went inside to help get them and were successful. While the medical staff were occupied by the injured, Addison got a call for an emergency delivery of a baby.

Addison took a shuttle to take care of the difficult birth, she arrived and was able to deliver the baby making the mother and child comfortable. Before she could leave a storm came up, and there was another call for help, the colonist whose wife Addison helped out, had a milk cow ready to give birth, and the calf was in breech position. The local vet couldn’t arrive due to the storm, the colonist was desperate and he asked Addison to help out. Addison said she would, and she was able to reposition the calf to its proper position so that she could be delivered. Later on, Addison reflected upon that moment, she was in the right place at the right time. And she felt closure as to the death of her husband, For she felt that Thomas had been there guiding her hands, in bringing another life to a new world. And this was a goodbye and an assurance he was always in her heart.
