| Physical Description | Lekran stands slightly shorter than the average Ferengi, with a narrow frame and scholarly posture. His skin is russet-brown which grows more pale around his sharp, emerald-green eyes. Those eyes are rarely still--constantly measuring and assessing the world around him. His lobes are unusually large even by Ferengi standards--a trait that earned teasing in childhood but became something of quiet pride as an adult. Unlike many of his species, Lekran favours restraint over flamboyance in his appearance. Even during his time as a government functionary, he preferred high-quality fabrics in subdued metallic tones rather than the ostentatious displays of wealth his peers would wear. He has a habit of tilting his head to the side when listening to someone speak. |

Personality & Traits
| General Overview | Lekran embodies an unusual synthesis of Ferengi pragmatism and Federation intellectualism. He retains the instincts of a common Ferengi merchant: opportunistic, analytical, and always thinking in terms of value and csot. However, his exile from Ferengi commerce forced him to re-evaluate the meaning of profit. While he still appreciates the elegance of a well-timed investment, he had gradually come to see that knowledge and stability are also forms of wealth to be respected. He frequently frames historical events in economic language. To Lekran, civilizations behave so much like markets: they can expand, contract, speculate, collapse, and even sometimes recover. Despite his reformist outlook, Lekran expresses a great deal of nostalgia for the simpler forms of orthodox Ferengi capitalism. He misses the thrill of transactions, the tension of risk, and the satisfaction of screwing-over his rivals. Lekran's colleagues often find him dryly humourous, especially when he quotes from the Rules of Acquisition--or when he adapts them to temporal philosophy. |

| Strengths & Weaknesses | + Strategic Foresight Possesses an extraordinary ability to recognize patterns in complex systems (economic, political, social, etc.) + Intellectual Courage Comfortable speaking truth to authority and will even state it plainly. + Adaptability Reacts and repositions himself even in the face of loss. + Dry Pragmatic Humour Lightens tense situations with understated remarks which tend to disarm others, thereby making complex discussions easier to work through. --- - Overly Cynical Still instinctively assumes that most people are motivated by self-interest which has him constantly skeptical of idealistic decision and dismissive of altruistic ones. - Over-Analyzes Things Constantly running probability and projections in his head--while this is professionally valuable, it sometimes makes him a hesitant to commit to a course of action when too many outcomes are present. - Overly Prideful Rarely speaks openly about it, but he remains very aware of how he once dominated the Ferengi financial world and how that past success can float to the surface as arrogance. - Outdated Views Defaults to antiquated assumptions about gender roles. While he genuinely respects intelligence and skill, he unconsciously underestimate's female officers' authority or contributions until proven otherwise. |

| LCARS Wherabout Record | Officially, Lekran is believed to be employed as a senior financial advisor to the Sheliak Corporate, residing on their homeworld. |
| Personal History | Lekran was born on Ferenginar into a moderately successful mercantile family that traded in rare industrial catalysts and off-world financial instruments. From an early age, he displayed an unusual talent for identifying patterns in economic activity. By adolescence, he could predict commodity shifts weeks in advance. By adulthood, he was forecasting trade disruptions years ahead of time. This ability brought him to the attention of the Ferengi government, and he was eventually appointed to the Ferengi Office of Economic Futures, serving as a senior advisor to the Grand Prognosticator (who, in turn, advised the Grand Nagus). In this role, Lekran developed complex predictive models that analyzed trade flowers, political instability, resource scarcity, and market behaviour across the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. At first his forecasts were used to stabilize Ferengi trade policy and maximize profits. Over time, however, Lekran refined his models to an unprecedented degree of accuracy. His projections were so precise that entire merchant houses began basing their investment strategies on his calculations. Eventually, Lekran realized something troubling--and tempting. His models allowed him to anticipate economic shifts before anyone else. Acting on that knowledge, he began to quietly execute trades of his own. Within a few years, he amassed an extraordinary fortune, outperforming nearly every other Ferengi trading house. The consequences were severe. Markets began reacting not to events themselves but to Lekran's predictions of those events. Economic volatility increased as merchants attempted to guess what Lekran already knew. In the eyes of many powerful Ferengi, Lekran had committed the ultime offense: he had made the Free Market too predictable. Under pressure from major commercial houses, the Ferengi government declared his methods destabilizing to its competitive structure. Lekran was subjected to commercial excommunicaton, a rare punishment prohibiting other Ferengi from engaging in trade with him. Stripped of the only profession Ferengi society truly respects, Lekran found himself in an unexpected position--possessing a brilliant predictable mind but no market in which to use it. How he came to serve abord the Herodotus is another story... |

| Service Record | 2351: Born on Ferenginar to Branek and Pelara. 2367-2371: Begins working in his family's trading enterprise on Ferenginar, dealing primarily in commodity arbitrage and financial speculation. Lekran quickly demonstrates an unusual ability to detect patterns in market fluctuations. 2372-2378: Launches his own independent trading ventures. Gains attention across several Ferengi trading houses after correctly predicting multiple commodity shifts and transport disruptions months in advance. By his late twenties, Lekran has earned a reputation as a market forecaster of unusual accuracy. 2379-2384: Recruited by Ferengi officials into the Ferengi Office of Economic Futures as an economic analyst. His predictive models begin incorporating political instability, trade routes, and demographic trends. Promoted to Senior Advisor to the Grand Prognosticator, who in turn, advises the Grand Nagus on long-range trade policy. 2385-2392: Lekran refines his predictive models to extraordinary precision. Merchant houses, shipping consortiums, and government ministries increasingly rely on his forecasts when making major investments. During this period he quietly begins executing private trades based on his own projections. His fortune grows rapidly. 2393-2395: Lekran's market dominance becomes impossible to ignore. Multiple merchant houses suffer heavy losses attempting to compete with him. Investigations begin with the Ferengi Commerce Authority, and accusations arise that his predictive models are destabilizing normal market competition. 2396-2397: Under pressure from powerful commercial interests, the Ferengi Alliance issues a decree of commercial excommunication against Lekran. Ferengi citizens are forbidden to conduct business with him. His financial empire collapses overnight. 2398-present: Federation officials studying the Ferengi market notice something remarkable: Lekran's predictive algorithms don't merely forecast commerce--they predict broader patterns in historical causality. He is approached by representatives from the Department of Temporal Investigations and is recruited to the USS Herodotus as a Temporal Probability Analyst. |
