Mission:
Like Sands Through The Hourglass
Location: Temporal Operations
Timeline: MD2, 1100hrs
[ON:]
Tarian Aloria stood in the center of Temporal Operations, arms crossed as he gazed at the central console's holographic display. The console was displaying some of the temporal issues that were going on within local space as well as their threat level to local space-time. Live simulations gave a visual of the current paradox risk zones, low-level temporal anomalies, and baseline integrity of everything that was going on currently within their little realm. All was relatively quiet.
Too quiet.
He let out a slow breath through his nose and stepped forward, fingers dancing across the interface, working it to change a few inputs and outputs. Tarian knew that quiet was a word that he would utter out loud because then, all heck would break loose. But, there was something oddly comforting at looking at the various temporal anomalies, even if they weren't doing too much at the moment.
It was just a new routine for Tarian. For years, he had been a ghost in the timeline. Tarian had been a field agent for years for the DTI, using both his previous experience as a Starfleet officer and a member loaned to the DTI to his advantage. There were many times that Tarian worked alone and it took a toll on him after so long. While some of his missions would take him to far off places like Risa and allowed him to interact with people there, he could never discuss his mission with anyone but his handlers.
Now? Now he had a chair. A desk. A title. "Chief Temporal Operations Officer." The words still felt like they belonged to someone else.
Was he excited to finally be able to work with people that knew what a chroniton off the top of their heads though? Absolutely! He turned slightly, taking in the layout of the Herodotus' Temporal Operations Center. Sleek and clean, while quietly humming with a layered chroniton shield and backup containment fields for anytime that the universe decided to throw them a temporal issue. This ship was the place that hoped for the best, but prepared for the worst. Just in case that time remembered it actually had some teeth.
The PADD in Tarian's hands beeped as he lifted it up. The final two crew members finally reported aboard recently , meaning that the roster for the senior staff had officially been locked in. That meant that the last few pieces of the team had been filled and Tarian couldn't have been happier, as they were the Chief Medical and Chief Flight Officers. He was excited to finally meet with them and discuss some plans that he had, since they would likely encounter some temporal issues within their own fields aboard the ship.
Bringing him out of his own thoughts, the holographic console showed a flair within local space time and it peaked Tarian's interests. That part of space hadn't seen anything like this since the 2370s, so Tarian made sure to add that to his list of many things to do and look over...
As well as meet these two fine young officers.
