1,109 words; about a 6 minute read

Mission: In The Nick Of Time
Location: Sick Bay - Deck 4 - USS Herodotus
Timeline: MD002 1130 hrs

Addison was working through her list of people to see, there was one more person she needed to see, and that would be Wyatt. Will he come to see her, or will she need to go on the hunt? Addison had a little bit of a smile as she thought back to the conversation she had with Zosia. Tapping on her combadge she sent out a summons.

=^=Lieutenant Spencer, this is Doctor Talbert. Please come to medical. Talbert out=^=

Wyatt had just rearranged his quarters, for only the third time, when his com badge vibrated and the ship's CMO, he assumed she was the CMO, called for him.

=^= I'm on my way.=^= he said.

True to his word, he arrived in Sick Bay five minutes later.

When Wyatt arrived, Addison was gazing at some readings she had taken of the others of the crew. She looked up when the door of medical opened, and Wyatt stepped inside. She called out, "I am in the back, please have a seat." Nodding towards the chair she had next to her desk. " I am Doctor Addison Talbert." The blonde-haired Doctor holding out her hand towards Wyatt, giving him an assessing but warm gaze with her piercing blue eyes. Her demeanor was calm, tranquil while a light welcoming smile was there.

Wyatt smiled at the woman as he took her hand and shook it. Then he gave her a mostly genuine salute. "Wyatt Spencer reporting as ordered, ma'am. And I wasn't trying to avoid you. I've just been busy."

"How are you today?"

Addison was surprised by his salute. "I am doing well, also you don't need to salute me, but thank you for that." Giving a slight smile, "I didn't think you were avoiding me, I am just doing normal operational procedures. If I thought you were avoiding me, I would have looked for you. How is the health of the ship?"

Wyatt's left brow rose. "The ship is having some growing pains but nothing that can't be handled. Not that I mind, but shouldn't you be asking about my health? Not the ships?"

"I was using that as a warm up," Addison responded. "Not that the ship is more important than you are, I feel that the health of the crew as well as the ship are kind of intertwined. Now, though, what I have been doing with the rest of the crew is taking scans of their health and their bio readings for comparison for when we go on a mission and come back. Your question to me also suggests that you are someone who prioritizes their health. Which is good as well." A smile danced upon her lips.

"I assumed you were just trying to break the ice. Honestly I was being something of a smart ass. It's kind of in my DNA, but I'm not trying to disrespect you."

"I try to take care of myself. Eat the right kind of food, exercise, meditate, those kinds of things I have broken a few bones in my time. Feel free to run your scans or do whatever you need to do."

Addison chuckled, "I didn't take offence." pulling out the medical tricorder and the hand scanner. "Out of curiosity, how did you end up joining the DTI? I've heard some varying stories."

"I was on Risa attending an Anthropology convention on leave. Basically, on vacation. It was the last day and I went to the bar to have a drink and admire the view. And not just the sunset, which I love. Anyway, this older guy came up to me."

"We started talking to me and I thought he was..." He paused as his face flushed. I thought he was trying to seduce me. In my defense, it's happened before. Also, in my defense, I was right in a way."

"I'm sure he was unaware of my assumptions, and I appreciate some doctor-patient confidentiality."

"What about you?"

"You don't need to worry about my breaking confidential talk. As for me. I got an offer I couldn't refuse, as it was a live-or-die situation. And the offer, it was from someone else, not the Captain, I didn't know the man, and I can't say the name. The man didn't threaten me, I was just pulled out of a really bad, deadly situation. " Addison giving a shrug. "Not mentioning the man's name is all a part of things needing to be confidential. Me I am here to keep people alive and healthy, as long as possible. There you have it," giving a little smile.

"Quite intriguing," Wyatt answered, "this isn't your ordinary vessel, I think most of us who are here got here in a unique way. In the end, though, I think what we do on the ship will be even more unique and far-reaching."

"But that's just one man's opinion."

"I guess you're free to run your scans."

Addison gave a nod, "Thank you," as she began running the scan using her hand scanner. The whirring of it recorded the blood pressure, as well as the biometrics of the body. It didn't take long, for it was something simple for her to do. She closed up the medical tricorder. " From what I am seeing, you seem to be under a little bit of stress, your blood pressure is slightly up. Do you do meditation to keep the levels down? Other than that, the rest of you is fine and you are in good health. You do take good care of yourself." Addison smiling pleasantly.

"I guess it's everything going on," he replied, "the stress, I mean. Yes, I do meditate, though it's been a while. I need to get back to it."

"As for the rest, well I do try to take care of myself. Are there any other tests you need to run?"

Addison shook her head as she put away the medical tricorder. "All I needed was to get a scan of you, for reference when we get back from a mission. The quick scan also recorded the rest of your vitals, all a part of that, quick, easy and we're done." she stepped back, "And you can go back to whatever I had interrupted you from. Thank you for coming when I called."
