Mission: In The Nick Of Time
Location: Office of the Temporal Operations Officer - Deck 4 - USS Herodotus
Timeline: MD001 1100 hrs

Tarian just returned to his office after getting out of the meeting with the Captain and the rest of the rest of the senior staff. The Captain went over their mission and where they would be heading out, which made Tarian both excited and nervous.

The mission itself appeared to be rather straightforward. Starfleet and the DTI both got distress calls from a planet in a neighboring star system called Kroatia, which was the homeworld of a people called the Kroat. However, when Starfleet arrived and made contact, the Kroat said they never sent any sort of distress call...to anyone. So, the DTI thought it would be prudent to send a DTI attached ship and the Herodotus was the closest ship in range.

However, Tarian wasn't too knowledgeable about the Kroat or their homeworld besides a few bits of information from the years he has been alive. Now that the ship was underway, Tarian thought it would be a good idea to get some information before the ship arrived and before they were too far from the nearest Federation Subspace buoy. Sitting down at his desk, Tarian pulled up his console and said, "Computer, link to the nearest Subspace relay station and give me computer access to all information about the Kroat and their homeworld. Authorization code: Aloria-Delta-Gamma-Echo-7-3."

Once the link was established and the computer was working on the information, the symbol of both the Federation and the DTI appeared on screen. It was working on getting information from both the main Federation and Starfleet databases, along with the DTI mainframe back on Earth. Tarian had written a code into the computer that whenever he looked information up or requested it from the computer in this form, that it be pulled from the DTI and Starfleet mainframes, as he knew that Starfleet wouldn't always have the temporal information like the DTI would.

Over the next few minutes, the computer slowly brought up and compiled the requested information before putting it all up onto the screen. The Kroat were an advanced species, recently been awarded with a protectorate status with the Federation, and had been working towards gaining full membership within the Federation. Tarian pulled up the DTI information about the world and it showed that there was nothing out of the ordinary for the Kroat in regards to temporal phenomenon.

It made Tarian scratch his head and wonder what could have been going on around the planet of Kroatia. Tarian pulled up the scans that the Federation Starship performed after getting into orbit of the planet and there were some minor fluctuations within the planet's upper crust. But, it wasn't something that could have caused major disruptions, especially ones of the temporal nature.

However, something else caught Tarian's eye. It was so minor that he almost missed it. Starfleet had ordered the starship in orbit to run some continuous scans of the planet and they had done so. Yet, at the turn from one day to another on the planet, the scans showed a minor shift in the poles of the planet. It was almost like a hiccup and it wasn't something that caused any sort of damage. Heck, even the science officer onboard the starship noticed it and said it was nothing to worry about.

But, to Tarian, he knew better and made note of it for when they finally arrived to the planet. He wanted to get a few more scans of the planet and some of its people anyways. So, Tarian was planning on using the ship's advanced Temporal sensors and now had a good place to start.

The excitement and nerves that Tarian were feeling earlier just shot up a little bit more, but he had a little bit to go on heading in.
