Mission:
In The Nick Of Time
Location: Astrometrics Lab - Deck 5 - USS Herodotus
Timeline: MD001 1600hrs
Tarian stepped out of the turbolift and into the Astrometrics lab after getting a nice shower in after his sparring session in on the Holodeck. He gave his new uniform a nice tug, as it was straight out of the replicator. He wanted to make sure that he came back as presentable as possible before reporting back to work.
He was going to the Astrometrics lab because Tarian wanted to check on the information that was being worked on about the Kroat homeworld. While it wouldn't be done for another hour or two, Tarian knew that there was something he could look at and make sure that all of his calculations were still correct and wouldn't send the ship backwards or forwards incorrectly.
Walking into the Astrometrics lab, Tarian saw the swirl of the Kroat homeworld and the passing of various information around the beautiful world. The computer was going through various information. Adding, subtracting, changing the information with the incoming sensor data that was being fed into it from the Main Sensor suite.
It was crazy how accurate the computer's timing was for when the data would be completely done. Since it started two hours earlier, it said it would be about three or four hours before the calculations would be 100% done. The remaining time that it showed on the wall was accurate for how long it would be before completion. "Wow, a timeship that is truly on time. Now, that is as efficient as all get out," Tarian said to himself as he looked around to see if anyone heard him. Luckily enough, he was the only one in the lab.
Tarian walked over to one of the computer consoles that lined the side of Astrometrics and input a few commands to allow him to pull up the data that was scrolling across the main view screen in Astrometrics. Since the ship was getting closer and closer to the Kroat homeworld, the information that was coming in was becoming clearer with each passing minute.
However, it still didn't entirely explain what was going on and what might have caused a distress call to come through when there was none. At least, none according to the leadership of the planet. Tarian let out a soft sigh, as he was hoping that the sensors would be able to illuminate something that was going on before they arrived. At least, that way they could explain what was going on for the Kroat upon arrival.
Tarian quickly switched to the console next to him and started to look through some of the stellar drift that he requested when he started this whole thing. Luckily enough, the computer had quite a bit of data about stellar drift in and around the Kroat homeworld. While it still incomplete, it allowed Tarian to update some of that information within his calculations. He would make the final update about that once they arrived, but at least Tarian wouldn't have to work too much of that information in on a crunch.
However, something else that Tarian was starting to notice was that there was more than one Federation signature around the Kroat homeworld. There was the signature from the starship that came along with the first distress call was received. But, there was another signature that Tarian was starting to see, but it was quite faded. Much like it might've been from a ship that passed through more than 20 years prior.
Plus, no matter how much closer that the ship was getting, there wasn't much of a change to the faded signature of that second Federation starship. Tarian made a note in the computer to look into this further, especially once they arrive. Also, he sent the information to his personal console in his office, so that he would be able to maybe identify the starship in question. At least, maybe see what kind of ship it might've been and maybe when it came from. It might help to explain what was going on with the Kroat homeworld.
Tarian took a seat and started to watch the information start to swirl around on the console in front of him. He started to rub his shoulder and quickly realized how old he was. "Well, I guess we shall wait and see what comes out of all of this. Hopefully, something good!" Tarian said to himself again.
As he headed towards the door, Tarian took a look back at the screen on the wall. He wanted to take one more good look at the Kroat homeworld before reporting back to the bridge. He was ready to figure some stuff out with this world.
