Mission: Like Sands Through The Hourglass
Location: The Quarters of Tarian Aloria - Deck 2 - USS Herodotus
Timeline: MD003 2100 hrs

Tarian sat in the dimly lit confines of his quarters aboard the Herodotus. The only light was coming from the LCARS interface casting an amber hue over his features. Tarian had just talk to Captain Thorrin earlier in the day and the talk was quite productive, as he learned something about the previous crew that he didn't know about prior to coming onboard.

According to Captain Thorrin himself, several members of the previous crew suffered from something called Temporal Psychosis, a neurological disease that causes so much stuff and is fatal if not treated soon enough. Even if it's treated within time, the treatment is basically a memory wipe and a new identity or something for those who are treated. So, Tarian wanted to look more into the disease and the previous crew before the ship went underway on their first mission and shakedown cruise, mainly out of curiosity and a bit out of wanting to make sure that he didn't cause it to the current crew.

"Computer, display logs of the previous senior staff of the USS Herodotus and cross-reference any mention of temporal psychosis. Narrow it down to the crew members that were affected by the disease and are no longer members of the DTI or Starfleet," Tarian said as he sat up and went over to the console in his quarters.

A soft chime acknowledged his request and the screen flickered to life, displaying the list of logs categorized by the officers and timestamps. Tarian scrolled through the list, noting key entries from the ship's previous medical staff and science officers. The crew logs showed nothing out of the ordinary for the crew at the onset of the disease, but after a little bit of time, it became quickly apparent of which members of the crew were starting to feel the effect of the disease.

Taking out a PADD from the desk that was nearby, Tarian started to take note of how the crew acted as the disease presented itself and how it began to show itself throughout the entire disease until it was cured. Not only that, but Tarian looked into the medical staff's logs about how the disease started. Tarian added notes himself about it from what he learned from Captain Thorrin earlier in the day because he didn't want to forget anything that was mentioned. While it would stay between him and the Captain, it was still crucial information that might be needed later on.

Another thing that Tarian wanted to figure out was where throughout the ship that the affected crew were station. He wanted to test a theory that the closer to the temporal core that one might've been, the worse the effects of the disease were and the quicker that the disease might've progressed for them before being treated, assuming that they could have been treated at all.

"Computer, out of all the crew that was affected by the disease, put them in a list. Start with who was affected by Temporal Psychosis first and list the others following in chronological order. Once they're in place, list which department that they were in and where they were when they first started showing symptoms," Tarian asked the computer. A soft beep told Tarian that the computer was working on it and the screen displayed the words: STAND BY.

Within a few moments, Tarian had the information that he was looking for and it supported some of the claims that he was thinking about. Members of the Engineering and Temporal Operations staff were some of the first people that were affected by the disease because they were the closet people that worked with the temporal core, either in Main Engineering or elsewhere throughout the ship.

Tarian took note of this information and notated in on the PADD he had in front of him before yawning. He quickly realized what time it was and noticed he was due on shift within just a few short hours. Tarian put the PADD away and saved all of the other information that the computer gathered up for him onto the same PADD before heading off to bed.

Tarian knew that he wanted to find out more information about the previous crew and how the disease went through for them because he didn't want anything bad to happen to the current crew, as they were good men and women. He just felt bad for those previous men and women who had to suffer through it.
