Mission: In The Nick Of Time
Location: Sick Bay - Deck 4 - USS Herodotus
Timeline: MD006 1145 hrs

The doors to Sickbay opened with a sharp hiss, Addison hurriedly stepped in along with a medical personnel both bringing someone inside upon a stretcher.

Captain Thorrin.

She could feel the ship, jolting around indicating that the ship was still under attack working to keep her balance and not letting Thorrin slide off the stretcher before they could put him on the bio bed.

"Hughes I need you!" she called out, as lights flickered Addison held her breath hoping that they wouldn't go out.

She did catch the scent of ozone, of some electrical sparks had emitted from somewhere.

"Right here, Doctor," Coen replied quickly. "I've been taking in the Captain's biofeedback while in transport here and sending them to the biobed. I've also been given some information from the Bridge crew regarding what sensors were able to pick up from the weapons being used on the ship," Coen had given that information to the diagnostic equipment as well, the bio bed and the screens around it lit up with information as Coen rushed over to take Addison's place with handling the stretcher.

"I don't know if it will help at all," Coen added as he quickly guided the stretcher to the bio bed, the turbulence not affecting his balance as much as the doctor's - he'd trained in much worse conditions. "I haven't received reports of anyone else with serious injuries yet. How did they know how to target the Captain? There are other El Aurians on the Bridge, no?"

Thorrin's mind drifted through the proverbial ether. He believed he was dead but was still not sure. The question was if he was dead, then how was his ship, and its crew. His mind was filled with everything and nothing at the same time. One moment he was on the Bridge about to learn what they were up against and the next. What? There was no way of knowing at the moment. At the moment all he wanted to do was nothing, for the first time in five hundred years.

Coen and the medics eased the Captain's body onto the biobed. He wasn't a large man, but his limbs and torso were completely limp, making him essentially dead weight, though his body was still warm, showing that something was still holding on to life. Coen began initiating a series of more thorough scans from the biobed itself once the Captain was in position. As he activated the equipment he barely looked up to the medic across from him.

"Help the Doctor scrub in, then bring over a full surgical table," Coen ordered.

"Computer, read back Captain Thorrin's current vital signs," Coen ordered as he began removing the Captain uniform so that he can the Doctor could begin searching for outward signs of injury.

The soft female voice of the computer began to read the Captain's vital signs aloud. "Heart Rate 39 beats per minute and fluctuating, status critical. Blood Pressure 72/41 and holding, status critical. Respiratory Rate 7 breaths a minute and raspy. Respirations are assisted now by biometric shield. Blood Oxygen Saturation is 81% and falling, status critical. Core temperature is low at 36.2C. Cerebral perfusion has reached critical levels at 24%. Cortical Electrical Activity is 19% of baseline and falling. Neural Synaptic Integrity is 28% and showing severe damage. The patient is suffering a neurotransmitter cascade failure. Chroniton Signature is unknown and fluctuating. Temporal Cohesion Index is unstable at 63%. WARNING. Severe diffuse neural trauma detected. Extensive synaptic disruption across frontal, temporal, and paracortical regions. El-Aurian cortical resonance field is collapsing. Progressive degradation of temporal neural coherence detected. Autonomic nervous system failure imminent."

"Doctor," Coen called urgently. "Preparing the Temporal Rephasing Matrix."

"Taryn," Coen, called to the medic. "We need an extra set of hands, get the Captain hooked up to Oxygen, mate."

Addison got scrubbed up, moving towards where Coen stood and Thorrin lay. Oxygen was being administrated to the captain. Coen was already proving to be someone she could count on.

Her eyes shifted to where the scans were showing the deterioration of Thorrin. The corners of her mouth curved downward, a furrow in her brow appeared as her mind sought answers. Time was of the essence to save Thorrin.

There was another that she had worked out a solution for, that was Maren. However, Thorrin wasn't suffering from temporal psychosis though but...

"Computer, bring up the records of Maren Malbrooke, as well as M'Ressa."

On a nearby screen the readings came up. One by one as they came to view Addison quickly scanned over them both, then looked at the readings of Thorrin. The current one and then the previous one she had taken when she first came onboard.

Her frown deepened, drawing in a breath through her nose.

Thorrin's body, his connection to time, was all in disarray. The scans refused to line up into something that made sense. Every answer only seemed to raise another question.

For M'Ressa, she had to trick the body into thinking that the chief helm officer was still connected to her own time.

Maren, she had to convince her body to keep glued together.

Each one, they had to have their own resonance.

Resonance, something was disrupting the harmonics of a person's body. Harmonics....

Something was causing discord in Thorrin's body.

A piece of music came to her mind as she followed her thoughts,

Turning to Coen, "Are you familiar with resonance, harmonics and rhythms?" Addison not worrying about how strange that could sound.

"Are we talking about music or medicine?" Coen gave Addison a bewildered look, certain she was making a point, though he was uncertain of what that was just yet.

"Both, they can combine and what I am seeing is that in some fashion if we refer things into musical terms, it also can coincide with medicine. The weapon that hit the ship, has caused the disruption of the natural rhythm and harmonics of Thorrin's body. What I am asking is do you have experience in music, as its going to take, as I feel, for us to tap into that to stop him from dying." Of course her, mentioning this out loud. Addison could understand the bewildered expression in Coen's eyes. It sounded like a insane way to put this, just it felt so right in every part of her being. Blame it on her background in music.

"I fancy myself a bit of a guitar player, and am aware of sonic wave healing practices, Doctor," Coen replied. "But not for catastrophic nervous system collapse. You'll have to tell me what to do." He spoke quickly, understanding the urgency of the situation - that every second mattered.

Addison looked at the viewscreen as she thought for a moment. "We're going to stop the degradation, by finding that certain note that he is attuned to. Now I believe that El-Aurians have that ability to change their age as they go through life, If we can get his body to activate that natural ability, along with us working on this end, we'll be able to get him back."

Yes, Coen had had become familiar with that capability once he'd found out he'd been assigned to the Herodotus. It was not information kept in usual Starfleet medical databases, but it was prominent recommended CME for work here.

Addison's eyes flashed over towards the drawer where she had prepped solutions for those who could be affected by time. She hadn't named them all as of yet except for the person they were designated for. Addison had decided to name Thorrin's Time in a bottle after she and he had shared wine and spoke of different matters.

To her, his wine collection, did fit as the wine was on a time ship and so she associated it as time in a bottle. To reflect that she had labeled it.

"Coen, go grab the hypo spray that says Time in a Bottle. We're going to need it." the drawer being near Coen.

"Apply it then we'll use the metaphasic stabilizer as we fix the broken piece of music. Or for that matter," she smiled slightly "This is a battle of the bands." she drew in a breath. "Sorry maybe too much levity but, we're having a battle against an horrible thing."

Addison went up to Thorrin taking him by the hand, her brow furrowed at what was pinging,

She leaned in whispering in Thorrin's ear, "Etoufee, a warm New Orleans night after a rain storm, a fabulous wine being drunk on a veranda. While you look out over your beloved city. Don't you dare let those bastards take that from you, my friend. Fight, damn it, fight."

There wasn't time for Coen to ask questions about this Time in a Bottle medication he was retrieving for the doctor, but he would have plenty of questions later when the crisis was over. Thankfully the vial was easy to locate, and he was able to prepare it quickly.

"Dosage, Doctor?" Coen asked as he turned around, prepared to adjust the settings on the hypospray.

Thorrin was lost in his own mental world. He was unsure what if anything was going on. Was he dead? He was unsure. However, he heard the Doctor's words and that brought his attention. His eyes fluttered open and he saw the chaos that was around him. He tried to make words but nothing came. At the moment he was a man trapped in his own body.

Addison noticed the reaction from Thorrin, this gave her a slight beat of elation though that doesn't mean he was out of the woods. there was still a fight to be had. She turned to Coen, "Administer 43 mg, emergency dosage." Turning back to Thorrin, Addison's mind went into overdrive, as she mentally went through procedures that she'd performed before.

"Computer bring up Thorrin's previous baseline scans and overlay them over the current scan." her eyes boring into what lay before her, before them.

Coen followed the Doctor's directions, 43 mg, and administered the hypospray. He watched the bio-display for changes and instinctively placed a hand to Thorin's neck, gauging temperature and pulse. He was clammy, to be expected. When Coen felt for the Captain's pulse though, he noticed something unusual about the appearance of the Captain's skin, or rather the way the vascular network underneath it was appearing. The faintest of dark lines was beginning to appear from underneath the neckline of the Captain's uniform, not unlike the markings of a venomous bite from a spider or similar creature.

"Scissors," Coen called out, and one of the nurses aid quickly handed Coen the cutting instrument and Coen began to attack the Captain's uniform, starting at the neckline near where he had just felt for the Captain pulse. As Coen began to cut and peel away at the Captain's uniform the dark lines became more defined, webbing out in all directions from a spot on his torso near his rib case.

"Doctor, have you seen anything like this?" Coen asked as he peeled away Thorrin's uniform revealing the pulsing lesion along the Captain's left side.
