Timeline: MD004 1700 hrs

Last Time on The Past Is Just The Beginning Part I

"Anytime my good doctor. Feel free to visit us anytime." Thorrin smiled for the first time in what seemed like a long time. He was actually happy to be underway and to have a mission, a puzzle to solve.
And Now The Conclusion...

Two days later, the Herodotus arrived at Kroatia, and Thorrin sat up just a tad bit straighter. "Mr Wyatt, hail the planet if you please."

Aloria looked at the main viewscreen and waited to see if anything was to come up. He was looking back and forth between the viewscreen and his own console, running a variety of tests to make sure that they didn't miss anything as they made their approach.

Wyatt nodded at the Captain as he heard his order. "Aye, sir," he replied before letting his fingers run across the control panel. /=\Kroatia, this is the USS Herodotus, please acknowledge/=\

The first officer sat quietly, listening to the chatter on the bridge as she watched the data scroll across her console. After two days reviewing history, she was eager to finally arrive at Kroat.

The viewscreen blinked on and a man with long auburn hair that had been pulled back into a pony tail was on the screen. His hair was in the mohawk style due to the large ridges that protruded from the top of his head. He wore a bright blue tunic. "Herodotus. I am Primier Dascov. To whom am I speaking."

Thorrin stood in the Captain's chair. Glad for the filtering technology that allowed the Primier to see only what they wanted him to see. "Primier I am Captain Thorrin in command of this vessel. We received a distress signal from your planet and were duty bound to respond. Now how may we be of assistance."

The Primier looked rather put off my the mention of a distress signal. "Captain I can assure you that there has been no such signal from my people. Clearly your instruments must be mistaken."

Tarian had been scanning the planet itself, but once the Primer came on, Tarian made sure to get not only regular scans of the Kroats, but temporal scans as well to make sure that nothing was missed. Meanwhile Jules kept an ear open as she listened to the Primier address the Captain while she tested the limits of the ship's sensors as she scanned the system for anything out of the ordinary.

"Primier with your permission I would like to send a team down to your planet. There is a distress transmission coming from there and if it is not you or your people that are transmitting it then we should learn what is happening. Of course we will be happy to share this information with you and your people." Thorrin thought there was something off about this situation. He knew that there was definitely more here than met the eye.

After a moment of consideration, the Primier realized that there was no other alternative. This Captain Thorrin simply would not go away until he had his answers. "Very well Captain. However I would have to insist that your people be under guard when in populated areas. My people are kind but we are also a suspicious lot."

"Agreed! Please transmit coordinates for transport. Thank you Primier. Thorrin out." The viewscreen went blank and Thorrin turned to Marissa. "Assemble an away team. Standard uniforms and equipment. As far as the Kroats are to know we are Starfleet."

"Captain, Commander. I would like to request permission to join the away team. I have been scanning the surface and have found some interesting temporal data coming from the planet and the Primer. Or, at the very least, if someone could get some scans of the following areas for me, that would be amazing," Aloria asked, putting some information into a PADD for the Captain and First Officer to look at and handing it over.

"If they are a suspicious people then our team should be kept to a minimum." Hastios spoke. "If we spook them we will either get into a fight, or they will shut down and not speak to us at all. No visible weapons, but I'd still advise concealed ones on the off chance we need to defend ourselves and are unable to beam out quickly." he looked over to Commander Sandoval more so as she was leading this team.

"I think we should make sure they're protected against any changes in the timeline. Lord only knows what's going on down there, so I wouldn't want our side pieces to disappear when we might need them the most," Tarian said, knowing that he has lost more than one phaser during a mission when he desperately could've used one.

"I agree with Hastios," Marisa said. "And no visible weapons. They should be time specific and easily concealed." Which is why she would take a knife and a blowgun with tranquilizer darts.

Then she addressed Tarian directly. "Would you not be able to get better scans from the ship?"

"I've been trying. But, for some reason, there's some massive interference coming from the surface and it's surrounding the complex where the Premier is. Even if someone from the away team had a tricorder on them, I could connect to it from the ship and maybe get a better reading of what's going on down there," Tarian replied, as he pulled up some of the scans he attempted to make when they got into orbit.

"The distress call itself is coming from a largely unpopulated area, Captain," Juli announced from her station. "It appears to be coming from an underground chamber on the southern continent."

"What are the chances of sneaking a second team down by piggy-backing off of our first team's signal so we can check it out undetected?" The science officer asked.

"None at this time," Marisa replied. "But this is first contact. If all goes well, we should be able to do more extensive research. To that end, the first team will be myself, Commander Eilfaren, and Lieutenant Juli."

"Very well Commander. Don standard issue uniforms, rank, and away team accoutrements. Just a routine investigation after all. You will find your identities in the ship's computer. Maintain regular communication with the ship. Mr Spencer I would like a transporter lock on them at all times." Thorrin issued orders while looking stoically at the viewscreen. Then he turned to Sandoval with a smile. "Happy hunting Commander."

She nodded her head once. "Yes, sir."

"Good luck, Commander and don't get into too much fun down there," Tarian replied with a smile.
